Edelbrock part #22752 Max-Fire distributor for Chevy 348/409 engines is ready to run right out-of-the-box and are the perfect upgrade for your ignition system. They’re ideal for replacing or upgrading from a points triggered distributor. They feature precision machining for a perfect fit along with a simple three wire hook up for an easy installation with no need to run an external ignition control box. The centerless ground shaft utilizes an upper sealed roller bearing with an extra long lower bronze Oil-Lite bushing for smooth operation. The high output magnetic pickup and large paddle wheel reluctor deliver a strong trigger signal at high RPM for maximum performance. All of these features allow Max-Fire distributors to provide unrivaled voltage to the coil, ensuring that you’re getting maximum performance from your engine. We recommend a new Max-Fire coil for maximum voltage output, ensuring you get the most from your high performance engine at higher RPM’s. Description_TRA A coil with 0.70 Ohms primary resistance or less MUST be used with this MAX-FIRE Ready to Run distributor. For best performance, use a coil with 0.50 Ohms primary resistance or less.
Description_TRA If the distributor will not go all the way down, the pump shaft may have turned while removing the old distributor. Pull out the new distributor. With a long screwdriver, turn the oil pump shaft then reinstall the new distributor making sure the rotor and vacuum can are pointed in the same direction as on the old distributor. When the distributor is properly seated, the trigger wheel will be in line with the magnetic pickup.
Description_TRA Install a new gasket and lube the gear with the supplied lube, then install the new distributor with the rotor and advance can pointing in the same direction as on the old distributor.
Description_TRA The installation hardware kit includes two (2) O-rings for use on the lower distributor housing. These O-rings must not be installed on the distributor unless the engine block has been specifically machined for their use. Please note that most engines were not machine for the use of the O-rings. Installing a distributor with these O-rings in engines that were not machined for their use will damage the O-rings. Debris from the damage O-rings will end up in the crank case and could lodge in oil galleys resulting in sever engine damage.
